URBAN ART HALL, BERLIN

The ART HALL is a temporary and independent project at Berlin-Spandau, with the aim to support urban art in its multiple diversity.  The location is situated in a former logistical center and hall of the German Post directly at railway station Berlin-Spandau. The hall itself will be demolished in 2019, so the urban art (inside and outside the hall) can only be admired and seen here for a rather short time left, some examples to be found hereunder.

Location:  “Alte Post/Packhalle”, Klosterstr. 36-38, Berlin-Spandau, Germany

I like travelling through the diverse realities and cultures of this world not only as a tourist. Nature, history of ancient sites or creative works are fascinating me however also abandoned places or ordinary things can be just magical and amazing. The multiple aspects and rich diversity of our blue planet need to be however nourished and protected. 1. You are always welcome indeed! The next post will be about Wroclaw’s culture and less “challenging”, but first I need to visit the Silesian capital again in early July. Now we are entering the vacation season 🙂

      1. This hall located at railway station Berlin-Spandau, the most Western district and suburb of Berlin, to the city center approx. 17 km., Spandau used to be an independent town till 1920, a more sleepy area usually but with own Renaissance citadel, much nature and some nice expressionist architecture also. Usually not many tourists here to be seen. So this project a real enrichment for a limited time.

      2. The Nazi war criminals incl. Hess were sitting in a prison being situated in Spandau. This building was demolished in 1987 after the death of the last Nazi (Hess), at that time the Allied of WW II were still controlling West-Berlin like in the decades before.

    1. The location can be visited till end of August at least, then a new building will be constructed there, this temporary use was always clear for the artists working actually there. Thanks for passing by! 🙂

    1. There are so many murals in Berlin! I usually prefer abandoned places in this regard, well these works here are more in a sleepy area of the city (but good reachable by public transportation) and far away from the city-centre. So this creative movement still growing also in the suburbs ….
